We're all Chinese

Under the slogan "We are all Chinese", nine German Olympians have posed in their sports kit for a Munich magazine while holding pictures of Chinese dissidents in front of their faces.

The pictures were published on the 1st of August in the Sueddeutsche Zeitung magazine under a headline recalling the famous 1963 "Ich bin ein Berliner" (we are all berliners) speech by U.S. President John F. Kennedy that paid tribute to West Berlin's freedom after the Wall was built.

I agree, we are all Chinese.

Somos todos chineses

"Somos todos chineses". Com esse lema, nove atletas olímpicos da Alemanha posaram para fotos usando seus uniformes oficiais e segurando fotografias de dissidentes chineses na frente de seus rostos.

As imagens foram publicadas no dia 1º de agosto de 2008 pela revista Sueddeutsche Zeitung cuja manchete "Somos todos chineses" é uma clara referência à frase "Ich bin ein Berliner" (eu sou berlinense), proferida em discurso por John Kennedy em 1963 como tributo à liberdade de expressão no lado Ocidental de uma Berlim então cindida pelo Muro.

É isso aí, somos todos chineses.
