For English version, please see below

3 - A campanha gera polêmica; muita gente a considera ofensiva contra as mulheres.

7 - A Relish, pressionada, pede desculpas.

The power of collective intelligence: a Facebook group contributes to positively affect reality
Milan-based clothing brand Relish has recently launched a campaign where Italian women attractively dressed appear on posters being arrested and sexually abused by men in uniform in Ipanema district, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Posters can be seen in Naples, Bologna and Milan.

I believe Relish can do this "technically" speaking. It´s their conception of how better selling clothes and of beauty (?).

Do I agree with this or find it interesting, intriguing or beautiful? Not really. It shows scenes of violence against women. Disliking violence, this is obvious for me. At the same time I can understand that Relish can have a different point of view.
However, there´s something very surprising for me. At this point of the XXIth century, why on earth has not Relish taken into consideration their own customers´ opinion (and public in general)? A quick poll and Relish would have had the answer. No, we don´t like these posters. No, Italians are not happy to see them on the streets of Italy or wherever. We´d love otherwise to see women being respected and loved.

Times have changed and now, via the web, not only can people say what they think, but also our voices can be heard and effectively and positively affect reality. This is what we call the collective intelligence.

An Italian woman, Lena Avolio, has created a Facebook group called "Get rid of the Relish" (in Italian, eliminare la pubblicità relish da napoli!!!) demanding that Naples´ mayor has these posters taken down and puts some kind of regulation in place. The group has been very successful and so far (the 13th of February) 768 people has signed up.

After the creation of the group, Relish apologized, removed some posters but still defended the campaign on their website saying it was based on the film Thelma and Louise.

It´s very inspiring to see that we have means now to say no, we don´t think this is beautiful, please consider our opinion, the collective intelligence.

And it´s so good to live in peace

Ahimsa symbol here on good news, by Isabella LychowskiIn Australia, police are reappraising their riot control techniques after a group of North Coast women successfully calmed a gang of violent youths in January by walking towards them chanting peace slogans.

The women took action after they saw a group of bare-chested young men, armed with baseball bats and metal poles, fighting and smashing parked cars outside a dance party at Repentance Creek Hall at Rosebank in the Byron Bay hinterland.

"People had blood on their faces, it was like a battle zone," Camilla Warner, 34, told The Northern Star newspaper.

"We walked towards them chanting, 'love in our heart, love in our heart'. I was on the front line as we approached and I could hear the sound of glass smashing and we started chanting 'stop, stop'.

"As the two groups came together, the fighting and vandalism stopped and they started talking, Warner said.

This is understood to be the most successful use of peaceful measures to disarm violent opponents since Gandhi brought the British Empire to heel with his "ahimsa", or "non-violent" movement.
